Hateful and Homophobic Attacks during and after National Equality March in Washington DC - VIDEO

The National Equality March was a success, even with the criticism from some LGBT advocates including Representative Barney Frank (D-MA), this community event allowed people to came out and show support for equal rights not just for LGBT people but for all. It was very refreshing to see young people from all backgrounds and places getting together and demand respect for human rights.

But it wasn't pleasant for everyone
.

A lesbian blogger describes her experience being assaulted by some Black kids in DC after the march was over:
As we approached the statue they were skating around we saw a huge milk jug filled with what looked like urine being chucked into a group of protesters walking home from the march. We were in shock! Immediately we asked who threw the jug and one girl, about 13 or 14 years old came forward and said “You got a problem?” and I said, “Yes, I do! Why would you do that??” She yelled in my face with venomous hate and indifference, “Because you’re a faggot and a bitch!” When she said faggot I literally stepped back with the force of the word. I wanted to say, “It’s DYKE honey. Get it right.” But what I said was, “What?!?” “You’re BLACK.” She answered, “So what? I don’t care!” As she stepped closer she started to raise her skateboard as if to hit me. I said, “You’re great-great-grandparents were probably slaves! How could you show such ignorance and disrespect to someone who is different then you?! Do you think they’d be proud of you?”
This was truly a hate crime -but it was worsened perhaps by the racial mention from the attacked. Luckily for the blogger and her wife, they got help from the DC police who eventually caught the attackers. So now some misguided youth raised in a wrong way, are part of the prison system.

If we want to know why some people are still hating on homosexuals, we need to see how religion and wrong values are shaping the minds of our communities. In this video of a series that I recorded at the National Equality March, is shown a group of homophobic Christians trying to interrupt and offend LGBT marchers in front of the White House.

Here I asked one of the preachers about their use of religion to discriminate others.

The blogger attacked by a mob of hateful skateboarders in DC, could have picked her battle in a better way. It's not smart to confront street kids in an aggressive way -I know I live in DC- and blame them completely for the homophobia they express. The work is to be done somewhere else.

We must look at the people who educate kids that way
. The true responsible morons for hate crimes are free and spreading their homophobia in schools, churches and homes. We are just victims of evil people like the ones in this video.
